Mark's Story

​Mark started his career in law enforcement in 1996 at Aurora Police Department in Aurora, MO.   In May of 1999, Mark began his career with the Springfield MO Department.

​On June 9, 2020 Mark's life was forever changed.   Mark was working in his office at police headquarters on Chestnut when they were notified about an individual that had caused a disturbance outside the front doors of headquarters.   Mark and Sgt.  Heather Anderson went outside to check on the individual.   While walking the parking lot Mark saw the suspect vehicle coming down Chestnut and turning to come in to the parking lot.   He motioned for the driver to pull into a parking spot.  It was in that moment that the driver, turned the wheel and accelerated striking Mark.   Mark was tossed on to the hood of the vehicle and then knocked underneath the vehicle.  Where he was drug underneath the vehicle and pinned.   Sgt. Anderson fired at the suspect striking him and causing him to stop the acceleration.
